Structural Engineer
Job description
You will participate within a structural team lead by one of our experienced Structural Manager to execute engineering activities for combustion packages (Thermal Oxidizer system, Vapor Recovery Units, Vapor Combustion Units and Flare systems). You will be responsible for the specification study, technical evaluations and engineering of the projects until completion. Working in a multidisciplinary team, you will deliver to ensure the packages to meet the customer requirement on time and with desired quality output in the optimized manner.
A Day In The Life Typically Includes:- Perform calculations for static equipment such as pressure vessels, heat exchanges and waste heat recovery systems as per various international codes and standards.
- Perform strength calculations for stack like structures (Self supported, Guy wired, and Derrick supported stack). Natural frequency calculation using modal analysis.
- Perform strength calculations for Equipment support/ piping supporting structures, Transportation and lifting structures.
- Conduct pipe stress engineering of piping systems as per ASME B31.3 & B31.1 code requirement using Caesar II software program.
- Perform evaluation of localized stresses on components for imposed loads utilizing WRC 107/297 or FEA (finite element analysis).
- Perform analysis of nonstandard, irregular and complex geometries using tools like ANSYS.
- Exposure to various material and its application for lethal/toxic, sour services.
- Support proposal engineering team during preordering stage for estimates.
- Participate in layout engineering during model review stage.
- Conduct complex engineering tasks along with key engineering work properly and efficiently.
- Ensure to extract engineering data from CAD drawings as well as computer models.
- Ensure to complete different assignments like drawings, parameters and varied materials apt for procurement plus construction purposes.
- Review vendor drawing submittals and conduct technical bid evaluation.
- Develop and issue parameters, data sheets and varied construction documents.
- Guide technically to CAD designer or drafters and engineers.
- Ensure good operational rhythm with Supervisor and colleagues.
- Timely resolution of technical doubts by effectively communicating with global counterparts.
- Ensure pear review rigor and to improve quality of engineering drawings and documents.
- Ensure on time delivery of documents.
- Manage communication on technical aspects with customers.
- Initiate and coordinate engineering activities related to the packages.
- Assist project, sales and design teams on technical matters.
- Contribute to development of the engineering systems.
- Bachelor s / master s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of hands on experience in design and engineering of static equipment, waste heat recovery systems, stack, piping and steel structure.
- Awareness and exposure to various international standards like ASME, BS, EN, API, TEMA and IS Codes of pressure vessel, heat exchanger, waste heat boiler, Stack, piping and steel structure design.
- Operating proficiency and experience in software s COMPRESS, CAESAR, STAAD.Pro, MecaStack and ANSYS.
- Basic knowledge of welding and fabrication processes, layouts engineering and specification.
- Basic knowledge to understand and interpret fabrication drawings.
- Understanding of basic Mechanical design principle and heat treatment requirements.
- Basic understanding of Fabrication and project execution sequence.
- Good understanding on different materials as per national and internal standards.
- Good communication skill to interact with customer, Vendor, Inspection agencies & consultants.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Follow company guidelines and ensure compliance.
- Should have a valid passport and willing to travel within India or overseas during any organizational requirement.
